SEASONAL THOUGHTS

SPRING THINKING

As the seasons change so do the projects.

Certain jobs are more common depending on the season.

See some Spring thoughts below.

Professional or DIY do-it-yourself home

CEILING FANS

Spring is great time to get a jump on a ceiling fan install before the warmer weather is here.

There are different levels of a ceiling fan install. Height is the first consideration to determine if a paddle fan can legally be installed. Blade clearance above the floor must be a minimum of 7' in a residential setting (higher for commercial blades). Once that is determined an estimate can be given for the following scenerio's.

  • If there is an existing fan rated junction box, a new fan can be installed without replacing the outlet box.

  • If there is an existing light fixture, but is just a standard box, it will need to be changed to a fan rated one.

  • If there is no light or fan currently in the ceiling, a proper box and new wiring would be needed.

Feel free to contact us for an estimate.

WINDOW AIR CONDITIONER POWER

Is there sufficient power to run the window air conditioner you are using or plan on using?

Many times people will put in a window air conditioner that is overloading the circuit that it is plugged into. Wiring and especially old wiring doesn't like overloads.

  • Sometimes just one air conditioner might be too much for the circuit to handle. It shouldn't use more than 50% of the rated circuit amps. In the case of a typical bedroom circuit of 15 amps, the rated continuous load is 12 amps where the max draw for a continuous load fastened in place would be a max of 6 amp if is not a dedicated circuit.

  • Rooms many times are on the same circuit which many times results in an overload situation.

Feel free to contact us for more information and/or an estimate.

SERVICE UPGRADES

Electrical Services like to be upgraded on days that are above freezing.

There are still many homes that have outdated and overloaded electrical services.

Reasons people decide to get a service upgrade vary:

  • When a home is bought or sold.

  • The existing panel is not necessarily overloaded, but is in bad shape.

  • An electrical load is being added.

  • Adding an addition to the home.

  • Adding a hot tub, swimming pull, air conditioning, heat pump, etc.

Our service upgrades are neat and professional. The panel labeling is  updated. We usually include a gfci rated outlet at the new panel if one isn't existing in the immediate area.

The outside riser is done in pvc conduit unless a cable is requested or necessary.

Feel free to call to schedule an estimate.
